Sustainable Business: T’Souke First Nation

Solar_Wasabi_monk_officeWhat do solar power and wasabi have in common? The T’Souke First Nation band’s greenhouses near Sooke.

T’Souke community uses 100% renewable energy to fuel its energy and hot water needs. Solar panels power the whole community and vehicles used on the property are electric, making the band the first Aboriginal community to be classified as a “solar community”. Roughly 12% of the electricity generated is used, the rest is directed back into BC Hydro’s power grid. Click here for more details.

To the T’Souke band; a sincere “thank you” from Monk Office for showing that sustainable local business is easier than you may think. We wish them all the best with their future plans for eco-friendly development. Read more about that development by clicking here.
