The Christmas hampers have been delivered and eaten, and the credit card bills are coming to your donors’ homes. It’s a tough time of year when you are struggling to fill the shelves of a local food bank. That is why we have chosen February to boost donations to local food banks – it’s a time of great need!
A small donation is often all it takes to help a local family. Each year we ask for something simple from our customers: add $2 or more to any purchase. Every dollar raised will support your community’s local food bank.
In November and December 2013, you raised $804. We are looking forward to doubling that number this month, so visit a store near you and add a toonie or more to your purchase.
If you live near Victoria, another way you can help is by accepting pledges and walking on the evening of February 21st in the “Coldest Night of the Year” walkathon, which is benefiting the many programs and services of the Mustard Seed. Meet at Centennial Square at 4pm, and join thousands of people in 80 communities across Canada who are addressing issues of affordability and poverty right here in our cities.
